History
THIS-Thomas Humphries Innovative Solutions, is an owner operator company focused on bringing products to the market place that are inherently more efficient, safer in use and a better value with exceptional personal service. THIS is a logical progression from the original business, Thomas Humphries On Site Repairs and Fabrications started in 1996, primarily as a repair service for Agriculture, Industry and Construction. In a few short years demand for projects of refurbishment, re-purposing of old equipment and custom design & fabrication of new led to opening shop services as well.
In the short years following, shop services steadily eclipsed field repairs and design/fabrications eclipsed repair work as the bulk of the workload. Focus has been on custom, one off or very limited production custom equipment and implements for over a decade. Owning enough skill, equipment and tooling to create almost any part, but possessing the sense to know when and where to use an outside vendor or to source an “off the shelf part” has augmented the creative process and enhanced an ability to build products at a good value point. On many occasions, and to this day, if Tom honestly knows he can’t provide the best value he will recommend taking the business to another vendor or even a competitor if that is what suits the customer needs best.
Transition to light manufacturing has not been without challenges, but has largely been seamless due to the years of experience doing limited but sometimes repeated production runs. As has been said, ”if you’re not moving forward, you’re moving backwards”. To move forward THIS is dedicated to carefully sourcing materials and services that will help streamline production, maintain quality and help keep costs under control.
